Dick Poot on his work as a lawyer for companies:
My profession is to provide legal service to companies, a profession I have enjoyed practising for more than thirty years now. Coming up with a solution before a problem escalates is a challenge. This has resulted in many steady clients who consult me for advice any time they wish to do so.
Of course I know my trade as a lawyer. And yet it is even more important to not just understand the client, but especially to make a proper estimate of the opponent’s position as well. Every client, every market and every problem is different. Sometimes a friendly letter will suffice, but in some cases one must hit home immediately with an attachment in order to set a case in motion. The challenge of searching for a solution each time anew so my clients can move on is the one I gladly take on time after time.
Dick Poot has registered the following practice area at the Dutch Bar Association: Psychiatric Patients’ rights. According to the standards of the Dutch Bar Association, he is obligated to obtain ten education points in each registered practice area each calendar year.
