EU Court rules against German fixed prices for pharmacies

25-10-2016

The EU Court of Justice has recently ruled that German price legislation, which provides for a system of fixed prices for the sale by pharmacies of prescription-only medicinal products for human use, is not in line with EU law.
The case continues before the German court and the German authorities will study the consequences of the case. The ruling may, however, allow Dutch pharmacies again to deliver pharmaceuticals against a reduced price to German patients like this used to be the case some years ago.
